Do You Have the Fat Gene? – If So, Soy Could Be The Answer
A recent study by Soy Labs’ scientists claim that Soy could help reduce fat gene…. well, that’s interesting – No not the soy bit, but the fact that there is a fat gene!!…and if you do, I guess the soy bit is interesting also!
Apparently, soy compound lunasin has been shown to inhibit a gene responsible for internal cholesterol production, and as such reduce plasma LDL cholesterol.
The gene, HMG-CoA reducstase was reduced by 50 per cent and the expression of another gene, which produces LDL receptors that help to clear plasma cholesterol, was increased by 60 per cent.
Whilst full details of the study have yet to be released, early indications are that its findings may be a significant boost to the use of soybean in the emerging field of nutrigenomics.
Nutrigenomics, is the study of how nutrients and genes interact. Genetic variations can cause people to respond differently to food nutrients. This is leading to personalised nutrition, and nutrigenetics, how hereditable genetic make-up predisposes a response to nutrition.
So I guess here it is – the proof for all your friends that doubt that you have not been over-eating, that in fact, you really are just naturally fat! Although Nutrigenomics has a role in both managing and treating obesity as well as its prevention – it could be up to 20 years before the science can be applied to public health protocols.
Lunasin has also been connected to having a positive anti-cancer effect. A 2001 study showed that mice with lunasin applied to their skin had significantly lower rates of skin cancer than mice without the lunasin treatment.

There is another nutrigenomics product that supports weight loss efforts through customized nutritional supplementation, GenoTrim. First, a DNA test is performed and the laboratory looks at five important genes that affect weight. Based on a person’s genetic make-up, supplements are then customized for you to help you overcome your genetic variations that influence your weight. There are people who diet and exercise and still have trouble keeping off the pounds. For those people, they should try this. I am and it is the best thing I have done for myself. Check it out at http://www.dnasoa.com, then click on GenoTrim.

There seems to be an interesting relationship to a post on Turmeric I’ve been writing.
I’ve been using it to reduce knee pain & inflammation – but I’ve read it reduces LDL, has anti-tumor activity in mice- so maybe it has the lunasin you are talking about!
I do know I have lost a minor- abt 5-6 lb when I was taking it for over 2 weeks, with very less dietary changes.
Will be taking it up again, thanks for this post
Hi, I can?t understand how to add your site in my rss reader. Can you Help me, please
Hi Steven
Thank you for your interest in adding our RSS feed to your reader. If you go to the bottom of the page and click on the RSS link it will open the feed. Scroll down below the filter list and you can see links to add to Google etc. For some reason the WordPress template cuts this pretty tight so hopefully you can see it.
Or to add the feed direct, use this URL
http://antiaging-wellness.com/Blog/?feed=rss2#
For instance to add this feed to Outlook, just right click on RSS Feeds folder and left click Add feed. A small box window will open where you can add the feed URL.
I hope this helps
Nicola
