ANTIAGING DETOXIFICATION PLANS
Due to the high levels of toxins our bodies are exposed
to every day, we benefit greatly from regular detoxification.
Toxins are built up in fat stores to levels beyond which
the body can rid them using its normal levels of cleansing
Common signs of toxicity indicating the need for more
detoxification action include:
- Fatigue, Dizziness, Nausea
- Low immunity
- Heartburn, Offensive breath and/or body odour,
Bloating, Gas – Wind, Liver problems, Constipation,
- Mucous build up
- Skin disorders
- Poor circulation
Cleansing can either be done over a longer period
with foods known to have detoxification properties,
or you can use a commercial kit of detox herbs.
Adding detox foods to your general wellness diet can
be effective in keeping these cumulative toxins at reasonable
levels, but I still recommend a 2 week liver and bowel
cleansing program every six months.
For simplicity I have approached the detoxification
programs in three levels:
Level One – is a long term
food based diet that can
be maintained indefinitely. Used longer than 3 weeks,
special consideration must be given to iron and protein
Level Two – concentrates on
raw cleansing foods and is
recommended for 2-3 weeks only
Level Three – are rapid
detox diets and should only be used for short periods
of up to 10-14 days. Rapid detox diets include:
There are many versions of these diets, with information
readily available online, so we have only included brief
outlines to give you a general understanding of what
each program entails.
Special Considerations During Detox Diets

During rapid detox, certain side effects may occur.

- Digestive system responses like: stomach ache,
gas, diarrhea and constipation
- Moodiness and irritability

- Skin rash or itchy skin
- Unpleasant body odour – as the body releases
ketones, so it is best to plan these level of programs
during times of low social engagements.
Although these symptoms are not pleasant they are a
sure sign that the body is ridding itself of harmful
toxins. Usually increasing water intake helps however,
should they become problematic, consult the program
instructions for suitable remedies that will work in
with the diet plan.
