Foods For the Skin
The main nutrition for the skin is a combination of
protective and repairing antioxidants, and skin boosting
omega oils:
Antioxidants – antioxidants
affect skin elasticity. The most important is Vitamin
C which is needed to make collagen. Other antioxidants
work with Vitamin C as tissue-strengthening agents to
fight skin sagging. Collagen and other substances support
both blood vessels and the skin itself by strengthening
the tissue and helping to make the intercellular mass
stronger. They also help prevent
aging damage from free radicals that build up from
exposure to cigarette
smoke, pollution or
ultraviolet radiation as well as the toxic
substances in our food.
Oils: Omega-3 and Omega-6 - are very
beneficial for the skin. A balance of Omega-3
and 6 help plump up the cells within the skin, making
it softer and less prone to dryness. These oils also
help to diminish inflammation within the body that can
trigger conditions such as acne, obesity, diabetes
and heart
disease.
