SYMPTOMS OF STACYBOTRYS POISONING

Stachybotrys

Molds such as stachybotrys that have the ability to produce toxins do not always do so. It depends on what the mold is growing on, conditions such as temperature, food, pH, humidity or other unknown factors.

Stacybotrys spores released into the air die generally within 24-48 hours. These dead spores are still allergenic and if disturbed, can release mycotoxins.

Chronic exposure to toxins produced by Stacybotrys can cause frequent symptoms, depending upon the conditions, and length of exposure.

Symptom of Stacybotrys Poisoning

Chronic exposure to toxins produced by Stacybotrys can cause frequent symptoms ranging from cold and flu symptoms to memory loss, muscle aches, sore throats, diarrhea, headaches, fatigue, dermatitis, intermittent local hair loss, cancer and generalized malaise.

Moderate symptoms include upper respiratory infections, fungal or yeast infections, and urinary tract infections.

Severe symptoms include suppression and destruction of the immune system affecting the lymphoid tissue and the bone marrow, and also hemorrhage in target organs such as the lungs. Affects by absorption of the toxin in the human lung are known as pneumomycosis.

Mycotoxin poisoning by this fungus is referred to as stachybotryotoxicosis

Stachybotrys chartarum was shown to have an association with acute pulmonary bleeding.

Typical Response Scenarios

Typcial symptoms exeperienced by different exposure conditions include:

Living in a home with water damage from a leaky roof generally results in complaints such as headaches, sore throats, hair loss, flu symptoms, diarrhea, fatigue, dermatitis, general malaise, psychological depression.

Persons handling material heavily contaminated with this mold describe symptoms of cough, rhinitis, burning sensations of the mouth and nasal passages and cutaneous irritation at the point of contact, especially in areas of heavy perspiration, such as the armpits or the scrotum

Individuals who ate grain from the contaminated hay experienced symptoms such as burning sensations in the mouth, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain. Corn, coffee, soy, and grains are particularly prone to this mold.

Duration Of Impact of Stacybotrys

There have been cases of DNA testing where stachybotrys was still detected in the body 9 years after exposure. As with other toxigenic fungi, stachybotrys alters human DNA and has been known to cause permanent neurological, pathological, psychological, and immunological effects on the human body.
